The follow-up examination regarding the condition of the bridge structure, which was included in the construction contract, will be discontinued from 5 p.m. on Thursday due to traffic, which is expected to increase because of the holiday. Traffic restrictions, therefore, cannot be expected on the Megyeri Bridge on Friday to promote uninterrupted traffic.

Before the holiday SMMC Ltd. advises drivers to obtain information about the motorways which are managed by the company before they enter a toll section. They can ask for up-to-date traffic information about the current traffic situation via a text message. All they have to do is send the code of the selected motorway (M0, M1, M3 or M7) to the phone number bellow: +36 70 777 4636. The service is free of charge above the price of a standard rate text message.

As a reminder:
Traffic restrictions can be expected on the Megyeri Bridge on Thursday 28 October, until 5 p.m., as well as after the three-day weekend between 2 November and 15 November. In the periods mentioned above, users of the bridge will be directed to the service lane in both directions, which is expected to cause significant traffic jams in the vicinity.

The reason for the traffic restriction is so that the follow-up examination of the bridge structure, which was included in the construction contract, can be performed. This task can only be carried out using mountaineering techniques, the condition for which is that the area under the climbers has to be secured, so it is necessary to divert the traffic.  The examination of the bridge’s internal structure can be performed with the help of the SMMC Ltd.'s own experts, but the external examination, which has to be finished before the winter period, can only be performed by climbers. Since, according to the rules, the procedure has to be repeated under different temperature conditions, further traffic restrictions can be expected during the spring of 2011.
