A significant traffic diversion will begin at nights at the M1-M0 junction
Because of the construction of a new junction branch at expressways M0 and M1, drivers can expect significant traffic restrictions at nights on the M1 motorway from 26 May. The construction works will be accomplished between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., so the order of traffic will be restored by the morning. Diversion routes are signalled to drivers by yellow signs. SMMC asks drivers to pay attention to the yellow diversion signs that have been set up, because those who drive by habit can easily enter toll motorway sections.
The new junction above the road will connect the Győr-bound side of the M1 motorway with the internal road network of the property investment which is being constructed next to the lake in Törökbálint. The pillars and piers of the new branch’s bridge structure have already been finished. The steel bridge structure is being installed after the diversion of the traffic, and the temporary closure of the M1 motorway and the traffic collecting and redistributing road, which runs parallel with the motorway at the M0-M1 junction, according to the following schedule:
I. Closure of the traffic collecting and redistributing road at the M0-M1 junction on the Budapest side, which runs parallel with M1 motorway (night of 26-27 May and 27-28 May 2010)
Because of the closure of the traffic collecting and redistributing road, drivers will not be able to enter the M1 motorway from the M0 towards Budapest. Diversion road is M0 – Route 1.
II. Closure of the Budapest-bound side of the M1 motorway (night of 28-29 May and 29-30 May 2010)
All traffic from the M1 will be directed to the traffic collecting and redistributing road, which runs parallel with the M1 motorway, and on which drivers can only continue their journey towards Budapest on one lane with a certain speed limit. In this phase there are no traffic directions which have to be closed.
III. Closure of the Győr-bound side of the M1 motorway (night of 1-2 June, 3-4 June and 4-5 June 2010)
In the third phase the Győr-bound side of the M1 motorway will be closed from the fork of the M1 and M7 motorways until the M0. The traffic towards Győr will be able to reach the M1 on the M7 motorway or via the M0 orbital highway.
During the construction, drivers will not be able to enter the M1 motorway towards Győr at the Törökbálint (14 km) junction either. The closure can be by-passed using Route. 1, and the M1 motorway can be entered at the M0-M1 junction. Those who would like to reach this junction from Budapest have to choose the M7-M0 route as well. Entering the Törökbálint junction towards Budapest and the traffic on the M1 motorway towards Budapest will be trouble-free.
SMMC asks drivers to pay attention to the diversion signs that have been installed, because those who drive by habit can easily enter toll motorway sections.
