THE LEVEL OF THE MOTORWAY TOLL
The level of the toll depends on the category of the motor vehicle. The toll categories are as follows:
a) D1 category: motorcycles and motor vehicles with a maximum total weight – including any kind of trailer – of 3.5 tons
b) D2 category: motor vehicles and motor vehicles with attached trailers (long vehicles) having a maximum permissible total weight of more than 3.5 tons, but not more than 7.5 tons
c) D3 category: motor vehicles and motor vehicles with trailers (long vehicles) having a maximum permissible total weight of more than 7.5 tons, but not more than 12 tons
d) D4 category: all motor vehicles that do not fall in categories D1, D2 or D3.
The 4-day toll for motorbikes is 50% of the 4-day toll for vehicles in category D1.
A buses and coaches with a total weight of more than 7.5 tons are placed one toll category lower than that indicated by their total weight.
The maximum permissible gross weight of a motor vehicle and its trailer is established on the basis of the official entry that appears in the vehicle registration papers.

METHOD OF TOLL PAYMENT
The toll must be paid in advance for the validity periods as listed in points a)-e). When the toll payment is made, the road use authorisation (hereinafter: authorisation) becomes valid. The road usage rights apply to all toll roads within the given time period. The authorisations can be purchased for the following validity periods:
a) 1-day authorisation: one calendar day, as indicated by the customer, for vehicles in categories D2, D3 and D4;
b) 4-day authorisation: the designated starting date and three consecutive days thereafter (a total of 4 consecutive calendar days), only for vehicles in the D1 category;
c) 1-week authorisation: the designated starting date and 9 consecutive days (a total of 10 consecutive calendar days);
d) 1-month authorisation: from the designated starting date to midnight of the same day in the next calendar month; if there is no such day in the month of expire, then to the end of the last day in that month;
e) annual authorisation: from the first day of the calendar year to the end of 31 January of the following year (a total of 13 months).
Road use authorisation is not valid for a time period earlier than the date of purchase. Permits are not valid retrospectively. Authorisations may be purchased at the customer service offices and designated points of sale of SMMC, as well as from contracted retailers.
Resellers signing an agreement within SMMC are empowered to sell authorisations. For the registration of the authorisation data (car registration number, toll category, validity period, starting date of the validity, date of purchase, location of purchase), resellers must use technical solutions provided by SMMC or developed by them and approved by SMMC. In the case of a private technical solution by the resellers, SMMC provides an interface enabling the online registration of data.
The buyer is obliged to check and verify the data he or she provides. The salesperson hands over the control coupon to the buyer, certifying the purchase of the authorisation. The control coupon contains all data stored in SMMC’s database, as listed in paragraph (2).
The Coordination Centre for Transport Development continually checks whether the toll collection system is applied in line with government regulations, in order to ensure a transparent operation without discrimination.
